OKC Thunder: TI editor power ranking week 9: The shuffle is on
Scan the drama of the NBA this season and you’d be hard pressed to not place the Wizards above the Timberwolves, Bulls, and Suns as the most dysfunctional squad on and off the court.
It begins with Dwight Howard’s arrival and subsequent posterior injury followed by Ian Mahinmi and Thomas Bryant’s inability to provide enough rim protection.
Factor in the team’s locker room issues and an All-Star backcourt who have zero problems proclaiming their brilliance in ever manner other than consistently on the hardwood.
Rebounding, in general, is an issue with the Wizards ranked 29th in both defensive and overall rebounding and 27th in offensive boards. And, Washington ranks dead last for opponent second chance scoring giving up 15.0 points per game.
It was assumed a trade to bring in Trevor Ariza would serve to add leadership to the locker room and defensive prowess on court. The problem is Ariza can’t fix the 27th ranked defense all on his own.
