NBA All-Star ballot officially opens: Vote OKC Thunder
With the NBA All-Star ballots officially open, it’s time to vote early and often to see our OKC Thunder represented among the best in the league.
Even though Russell Westbrook and Paul George should be a lock for the All-Star game, it’s still up to Thunder fans to vote them in. And despite the NBA continuing to include players and media in the vote, fan voting can’t be overlooked.
This year will be the second season the NBA will do the school-yard pick in which two designated captains will select their starting five from a field of all-stars voted upon by the fans, players and coaches. The fans will account for 50 percent of the voting, while the players and media each have 25 percent apiece.

Once the captains are announced and starters are selected on Jan. 24, the reserves will be selected by the coaches on Jan. 31. The selection will be televised for the first time on TNT.
Additionally, the NBA brought back “2-for-1 Days” in which each vote will be counted twice. You can find the dates of the 2-for-1 days and other details on voting here. Keep in mind, there will be no voting via Twitter this season.
Festivities will begin on Friday, Feb. 15, with the celebrity game followed by the Rising Stars game. The Skills Challenge, 3-Point Contest and Slam Dunk Competition on Saturday.
The candidate pool appears to be deeper than ever, so it’s important to vote, not just for Westbrook and George, but also for Steven Adams in particular. Details on the events leading up to the game haven’t been released, but it’d be nice to see either Hamidou Diallo or Terrance Ferguson in the dunk contest. Alex Abrines would also be a good candidate for the 3-point shootout, and Dennis Schroder would likely do well in the skills challenge.
All-Star voting ends on Jan. 21, with the All-Star game scheduled to tip on Feb. 17 at 8 p.m. in Charlotte, NC. and televised on TNT. The voting ballot can be found here.
