The OKC Thunder G-League affiliate OKC Blue went 2-0 in Vegas, while the varsity squad released Tyler Davis and inked Donte Grantham to a two-way deal.

Last week, the OKC Blue downed the Grand Rapids Drive, and Long Island Nets to go 2-0 at the G-League Vegas showcase. Like every NBA squad, the OKC Thunder was paying close attention to the showcase to see which youngsters stood out.

Deonte Burton had another insane dunk that left fans breathless

Deonte Burton is already on a two-way contract with the OKC Thunder and has logged minutes in 15 contests so far this season. His now former two-way deal mate, Tyler Davis only got into a single game for the OKC Thunder before being waived on Thursday. That cleared up a two-way spot for the Thunder to hand out a two-way pact to Donte Grantham.

Grantham has played in nine games for the Blue, with six starts. He averages 26 minutes per game and shoots the three ball at a 40 percent clip.

Grantham is a 6’8, 215-pound wing and can fill a need for the OKC Thunder that Tyler Davis just couldn’t. Davis was stuck in a logjam, with no chance of stealing away minutes from Steven Adams or Nerlens Noel, thus wasting a two-way spot when a team is only allotted two spots at a time. Unless an injury were to happen, having a two-way center just did not make sense.

Will Grantham make a big impact for the OKC Thunder? Realistically, probably not. However, he simply provides more upside, and a greater chance to make an impact than Davis did.

Grantham is averaging 10 points, five rebounds and a pair of assists per game. From the field, Grantham hits 38-percent of his shots.

Donte Grantham is already 23, and while that isn’t naturally old, in terms of basketball potential and upside, he does not have much room left to grow.

Last year Billy Donovan rarely used the two-way contracted players P.J. Dozier and Daniel Hamilton, however Burton has been utilized far more this season. As previously mentioned, Tyler Davis has only logged a single minute this year for OKC…literally.
