Happy New Year!!! The OKC Thunder set a franchise record with 29 forced turnovers as OKC avenges previous night’s loss to Dallas. Topic: Thunder serves up the postgame podcast.

As is becoming tradition, the OKC Thunder played basketball on New Year’s Eve.  With this year’s match against the Dallas Mavericks, OKC extended their franchise record to 9-2 on such occasions.

As also is tradition, Russell Westbrook tallied another triple-double (32 points on 13-24 shooting, 11 boards, 11 assists to go with four steals).  This is his 114th such game and OKC now has a record of 93-21 (.815 win percentage) when he does so (just for you “stat padding” crowd).

This is on the heels of one of his worst shooting performances of his career and one of the more frustrating games for him as a pro.  He vowed this game would be different.

Russell Westbrook did not disappoint.

More from Thunder News

Paul George got OKC going early.  After the first quarter, he had 16 points on eight shots but would only finish with 22 points (on 21 shots).  #MVPG did have four steals though, as he helped further his campaign for being the best two way player in the NBA.

One player of concern for OKC tonight was Harrison Barnes.  After starting fairly slow (five points on three shots in the first half), he caught fire.

He hit four threes in the third and started the fourth with back to back jacks from deep (seven of nine from three for the game, 25 points) to help keep Dallas in this one but mistakes by the Mavericks and OKC’s swarming defense proved to be too much for the team down South.

My name is Matthew Mullins (Matty Mulls), and on behalf of the Topic: Thunder Podcast, I will take you inside the dominating win for the Thunder tonight.
