Garrett Temple
This trade scenario comes off the back of Memphis’ recent altercation between Garrett Temple and Omri Casspi. Tensions burst between the former Kings teammates as it was reported that it got physical in the locker room.
While Memphis has played down the situation as a “fight for the right reasons”, locker room altercations generally result in one of the players being traded. With Justin Holiday arriving via trade from Chicago, the writing is on the wall for one of the veteran wings.
In the trade below, the Thunder makes a play for Temple.
Spanish connection?
Memphis receives a perimeter marksman in Alex Abrines to enhance its perimeter game. The Spanish guard is having a tough year shooting the long ball converting at a 32.2 percent rate thus far but may need a change of scenery to get himself going. Abrines reunites with Spanish teammate Marc Gasol in the deal and adds to Memphis’ solid defense.
TLC is a promising wing who needs an opportunity to prove himself. With the Grizzlies struggling for wing depth, Memphis is in position to provide the young Frenchman valuable court time.
Two-way Veteran
Oklahoma City receives a two-way threat in Garett Temple. The 32-year-old has shot above 37 percent the past three seasons and upgrades OKC’s situation on the wing. He is a sound defender on the perimeter and gives OKC a solid three-and-D option.
