Third returns of fan votes find OKC Thunder superstar Paul George still positioned to be a starter in the All-Star Game. Four days left to vote.

With fan voting accounting for 50 percent of the tallies for players who’ll start in the All-Star Game in Charlotte, OKC Thunder star Paul George remains a top frontcourt choice.

Fans have until January 21 and up until 11:59 PM Eastern Standard Time to get their votes in. The other 50 percent of the votes will be determined by players and media.

Therefore, while Paul George (2.583 million) is currently positioned to be a starter the media and player votes could shift the final outcome. That’s why its important for Thunder fans to continue voting for the star.

In addition, make sure to get in your votes for Russell Westbrook and Steven Adams. This duo isn’t positioned as well as George with Westbrook ranking fourth among guards trailing the dominant trio of Stephen Curry (2.979 million), Derrick Rose (2.712 million) and James Harden (2.315 million). Westbrook (2.090) would need a major voting shift to overtake Harden and Rose.

Given the recent MVP type performances by Harden, he’s likely to garner a ton of player and media votes which makes it unlikely the Brodie will start. Unless the Thunder completely folds between now and the time coaches pick the reserves he should be a shoo-in to make the team. Still, keep voting because our support could propel him upward.

As for Steven Adams, he ranks sixth among West frontcourt starters with 1.483 million votes. Although he has the support of both Thunder Nation and his New Zealand fans it will take a monumental voting effort to move him up into a third place position.

LeBron James leads all players with 3.770 million votes and is joined by Luka Doncic (3.30M) and George. Ironically the biggest concern to catch George is Kevin Durant who ranks just behind him with 2.432 million votes or 151,208 votes shy of PG13’s tally.

More from Thunderous Intentions

In the East Giannis Antetokounmpo appears secure to get the captaincy with just under 3.727 million votes. Kawhi Leonard (2.882 M) and Joel Embiid (2.292 M) appear cemented as the frontcourt starters since fourth place vote recipient Jayson Tatum is well behind (826k).

No shifts in East backcourt occurred in round three with Kyrie Irving (3.187 M) and Dwyane Wade (1.738 M) continuing to lead the way. If there is to be a shift in the East it’s likely to be in the backcourt where home town star Kemba Walker (1.156 M) might overtake Wade once player and media votes are added.

By clicking this link it details how to vote for players to make the All-Star team. This means as of today fans have four days left to vote with January 21 being the most important as votes count twice on that day.

Other significant dates:

  • Starters will be announced on Thursday, January 24 on Inside the NBA (as per usual)
  • Reserves will be announced the following Thursday (January 31) also on TNT
  • And the NBA announced the live schoolyard team selection will air live on Thursday, February 7 (which also happens to be the same day of the trade deadline).
