NBA TV poll: Most athletic Russell Westbrook, LeBron James or Giannis Antetokounmpo. Calling OKC Thunder fans to show your support – one day left to vote.
If you caught any part of NBA TV programming Wednesday night you know OKC Thunder star Russell Westbrook is up against the two leading All-Star vote recipients LeBron James and Giannis Antetokounmpo. In fact, as of this writing, he is trailing both players in votes.
Voting ends tomorrow, so the Brodie needs a little love from his fan base to make a true race out of this poll.
Each of the analysts had their say during programming and in fairness, this isn’t an easy choice. Hat tip to Steve Smith and Matt Winer for selecting Westbrook.
For LeBron James to still be beasting in his 16th season in the NBA is a new mark all on its own. He reportedly spends a million dollars a year to keep his body in top physical condition and it’s paid dividends. Prior to and since there aren’t many NBA bodies who compare to James and his athleticism. If you’ve witnessed opponents trying to guard James or stop him in the post his sheer size, strength, and speed present an unparalleled mix of assets.

Giannis Antetokounmpo isn’t called the Greek Freak for fun – he simply defies logic with his wingspan and overall length. Attend a live game and I dare you not to leave shaking your head at how quickly he gets from one end of the court to the opposite side in what seems like three strides.
Now, let’s forget we have a bias for our guy Russell Westbrook – but there is a solid foundation to support Russell Westbrook as being the most athletic. First of all, he’s the smallest of the three candidates and yet that wouldn’t stop him from going at either LeBron or Giannis. Nor, would it enable either of his poll partners to stop him in transition.
What might also push Westbrook over the top is the sheer power of Russ combined with his speed, flexibility, strength, power, and aggression.
Just an evening ago he punctuated that very point with this:

Then remember Russell Westbrook is 30 years old, and yes LeBron is 34 but Westbrook has had FOUR knee surgeries. Ask yourself how many players you’ve witnessed return from knee surgery and dunked in their first game back or continue to dunk like above?
Ask yourself how athletic a guard has to be to get double-digit rebounds and not just get them but be on pace to average a triple-double for the third season in a row – a feat, no other player has ever accomplished twice prior to Russ.
So have your say – and we’ll take no offense – they are all viable options. Again these polls can easily become a popularity contest which means LeBron and Giannis have an edge. But, not if OKC Thunder and Westbrook fans get behind the Brodie with our support in the poll.
