Nikola Mirotic:

Salary:

2018-19 – $12,500,000

As per spotrac

On the season Mirotic is averaging 16.7 points, 8.3 rebounds, 1.1 assists and just under a steal (0.7) and block (0.8) per game. Yet, the most impressive part of the forward’s game is his perimeter prowess. Although he’s shooting 36.8 percent that stat becomes more relevant given he attempts just over seven (7.2) 3-pointers per game.

With the Thunder in search of players who can space the court, hit from the perimeter and add depth Mirotic seems like a logical fit. Especially considering his contract is expiring and he could be acquired as a rental for their push this season.

The issue is what the Pelicans will want in return for Mirotic and whether Sam Presti would deem it a worthwhile expenditure for a player who is questionable on defense and has a history of getting injured.

Case in point, Mirotic has missed 20 games this season. If he can stay healthy he’s a definite bonus to add either as the starting power forward or even as a serviceable producing go-to scorer off the bench.
