Dwight Powell:

Salary:
2018-19 – $9,631,250
2019-20 – $10,259,375 (player option)
As per spotrac.

Without Porzingis projected to play this season and the loss of Jordan the Mavericks may elect to keep Powell in the mix. While his price tag may seem a bit robust the Canadian offers plenty of intangibles and he’s progressed well under Rick Carlisle.

That said, Powell is 27 and it’s not a stretch to say he is being overpaid given his 16.6 minutes per game. His effectiveness this season is registered via a stat line of 8.5 points, 4.1 rebounds, 1.0 assists, 0.5 steals, and 0.6 blocks. His minutes could see an uptick with the departure of Jordan and the jury is out on whether he can provide the services Rick Carlisle will require from him with extending playing time.

He’s a positive on both ends of the court which is useful but at 27 years old how much more can he develop and expand in the league?
