OKC Thunder trade primer: Misfit roster may result in Magic trade deadline options
Terrence Ross:
Salary:
2018-19 – $10,500,000
As per spotrac.
Ross is a streaky player who’ll string together games where he leads the Magic offense, can’t miss from the perimeter and also dials in on defense. Unfortunately, that isn’t a game to game consistent result.
Still, Ross has shown growth as a leader while on the Magic and is still capable of having a break out shooting performance, the likes of which can win you a game (possibly in the postseason!).
Ideally, TRoss is meant to be a third or fourth option on a team – not the go to primary player so he hasn’t been able to excel to his real potential because of this dynamic. Factor in the lack of a true point guard and it’s understandable because opponent’s simply lock him down on the wing unless Evan Fournier is also having “one of those” nights.
On the season Ross is averaging 14.4 points, 3.3 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.0 steals and shoots 37.7 percent from deep. Just think how much better Ross could be playing on a team where he isn’t the primary defensive focus!
