Next up in the OKC Thunder trade deadline series T.I. looks at the San Antonio Spurs who remain the most trustworthy foundational template in the Association.
As the OKC Thunder prepare for trade deadline day fans wonder if Sam Presti will be pulling more rabbits from his hat.
One team who doesn’t generally get involved in deadline deals is the San Antonio Spurs. But, could this be the year that situation changes? Surely, the Spurs loss (and quite convincingly) to the Warriors on Wednesday may move the bar toward making trades today.
Despite the Spurs navigating through the season with numerous injuries to core talents and integrating new team members they remain firmly seeded in the playoff race.
Really – are you surprised? Like I always say the three things in life you can count on is death, taxes and the Spurs being competitive (read: making the playoffs).
While many wondered if this would be the season that changed it appears as long as Gregg Popovich is at the helm nothing changes. Having said that it is plausible to believe the franchise who all others try to emulate may do the untypical and get involved today.

I’m not sure they have the pieces that would make New Orleans budge, but I firmly believe this could be an ideal pairing (Pops and the Brow) in the NBA.
With that let’s dive into the Spurs situation entering the deadline and which Spurs assets may be on the block.
