Part two of the OKC Thunder buyout series continues as we examine new Los Angeles Clipper Wilson Chandler.

The OKC Thunder have 12 players on its roster and need to sign at least two more players to make up the leagues minimum roster requirements. One name likely to interest the Thunder should he secure a buyout is veteran Wilson Chandler.

Oklahoma City and Chandler have flirted for years but have been unable to bring the 31-year-old to the Midwest. At 6’8 with a 7’0 wingspan, the veteran fits OKC’s calling card – a switchable wing capable of guarding positions one through four while being able to knock down open jumpers.

The Thunder are short on wing depth following the departure of Spaniard Alex Abrines and Frenchman Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot. Oklahoma City has a terrific mix of young and old heads and certainly could do with another proven veteran to add to the equation.

Chandler included in one of the big blockbuster trades at the February deadline which facilitated a move for Tobias Harris to Philadelphia.

During his brief tenure with the Philadelphia 76ers, Chandler posted 6.7 points and 4.5 rebounds on 44 percent shooting and 39 percent from deep while being used primarily as a spot-up shooter. After eight disappointing years with Denver (which included a lost season thanks to a torn ACL) and a brief stop in Philly, Chandler could see himself going deep into the playoffs for the first time in several seasons.

While there has been no substantial noise behind Chandler seeking a buy-out from the Clippers, Los Angeles is clearly preparing for next year’s free agency while remaining competitive at the minute. With Chandler dealing a right quadriceps strain which will sideline him for the next two to three weeks, the Clips might be willing to free the 31-year-old should he request a buy-out.

Let’s take a closer look at what Chandler could possibly bring to the table.
