Washington Wizards. 20. team. 142. . 24-32. Previous: 19th

The situation in Washington proves how quickly situations can change for a franchise, especially when key injuries occur to stars. So with news of John Wall tearing his Achilles, the shift was immediate. Wizards owner (Ted Leonsis) was adamant his core trio of Wall, Bradley Beal, Otto Porter was untouchable until Wall’s second injury.

It led to moving Otto Porter which equates to removing $27 million next season and a player option of $28.5M in 2020-21. The trade allows the Wizards to pass on Jabari Parker‘s $20M and insert youngster Bobby Porter at an economical rate.

It still might not be enough to fix this top heavy salaried team, but it gives Washington more flexibility than they had prior to the deadline. More importantly, pre-deadline the Wizards had the sixth highest payroll and drop to 10th post-deadline.
