One of the most curious aspects of the deadline was Rob Pelinka and Magic Johnson sending out youngster Ivica Zubac who (other than Brandon Ingram) may have the biggest upside for an aging below par defender in Mike Muscala.

As per above the most extreme of a small sample size possible (one game) highlights Muscala’s first outing. The Lakers usage and requirement of his passing was excessive. Let’s keep an eye on this moving forward.
This is a very tenuous ranking for the Lakers and speaks more to LeBron James ability and effect than to the team’s ability. It’s no secret I’m not a fan of the Lakers and have a difficult time ignoring their failings and occasionally decent defense.
With so many tough teams on tap, the club could just as easily fall into the 20’s segment of the rankings in the coming weeks. For now, I’ll give the King his due and will keep a close eye on how they perform in this tough stretch of schedule.
