OKC Thunder: Alex Abrines to explain everything soon
It has been a winding and unusual road for Alex Abrines and the OKC Thunder this season. And after months of remaining silent about a personal situation, Abrines is almost ready to explain everything.
The on-going saga with Alex Abrines and the personal issues which kept him sidelined for a majority of the season ended with the OKC Thunder cutting the 25-year old Spaniard. But the unusual and abrupt exit left fans wondering what happened to their shooting specialist, as his ailments or issues were never revealed to the public.
We will have answers soon enough, however, according to Abrines, who stated he will reveal his situation to the public shortly.
As of now, Abrines is still reported to still be in the U.S. with the goal of overcoming his current obstacles and making it back into the league. The road for him will be a challenging one, as he wasn’t playing particularly well prior to being ruled out.

But in the final year of his contract with the Thunder, it didn’t appear he would be in the league much longer at his current rate anyway.
Still, in today’s game, there’s always an interest in shooters. So it wouldn’t have been surprising if a different team in the league took a flyer on him at a low-level deal.
If all else fails, Abrines will likely end up playing professionally in his homeland of Spain. Abrines was there over the summer, being active in the community and getting hitched. Some of his teammates even made the trek overseas to be with him during that time and Billy Donovan said he’s still a part of the team even though he’s no longer on the roster.
Perhaps more than any other team in the league, the OKC Thunder players and coaches are considered to be family in the community. No matter who they are, what they’ve done or where they come from, once a player dons the Oklahoma City uniform, they are adopted by the city.
The same is true for Abrines, who Thunder fans seem genuinely concerned about. I think I speak for Thunder fans everywhere when I say I hope everything works out for him and his family.
Even though he wasn’t the greatest contributor and likely won’t be on the team again, I hope to see him succeed somewhere.
