Putting himself on the map

Burton’s biggest breakout came in pre-season against the Milwaukee Bucks where he posted 16 points (6-11 from the field, 3-4 from three), four rebounds, three steals and one block in the 119-115 win overtime win. While his numbers in a vacuum don’t overwhelm you, he was the difference in overtime, scoring 11 points in the final five-minute frame.

The 25-year-old established himself early as a human highlight reel with three beautiful dunks (two on the break and one put-back) and three triples in the clutch.

His poise, fearlessness, and determination established Burton as a rotation player in the NBA at the very least. The rookie sent waves throughout OKC’s fanbase with his teammates going crazy every time he got on the break in anticipation of a spectacular dunk.

His performance in the clutch is an added skill the Thunder so desperately need outside of Paul George and Russell Westbrook, earmarking him as potentially the next big thing in OKC.
