NBA ready

When Burton finally got some burn in the pro’s, it was a fantastic measuring stick of whether he was capable of being a rotation NBA player or not.

The rookie passed with flying colors.

Two performances in particular stand-out as the best games of his short career but before we get to those, I must honor his spectacular poster dunk on Charlotte Hornets forward Miles Bridges.

Burton’s best offensive game came in the 120-111 win over the Portland Trail Blazers. The rookie posted 18 points (7-9 shooting,  3-5 from three) and three rebounds in 26 minutes.

But the game that impressed many fans was his contributions against the Houston Rockets. In 10 minutes of action, Burton posted no points, three rebounds, and one assist but played exceptional defense on isolation-maestro James Harden as well as beating the Rockets to a number of key rebounds.

Final Thought

major win for Sam Presti and the Thunder. While he has only played in the 23 NBA games, it’s clear the rookie belongs in this league and has rightfully earned a legitimate NBA contract. It remains to be seen whether he will feature in the playoffs but if Billy Donovan is looking for energy and a game changer, Burton might be the answer.

From transferring in college to Korea to Oklahoma City, Burton has fought his way into the NBA with style. OKC have found themselves a diamond in the rough with stardom potentially waiting in the wind. You’re officially apart of the team Deonte Burton and Thunder fans can’t wait to see more of you.
