OKC Thunder beyond the numbers: Markieff Morris
To wrap up, it is important to remember Morris has played only 10 games with a very inclusive OKC Thunder team. Unlike other players we’ve recruited, it doesn’t seem Morris has threatened the chemistry, pace, or identity of the team.
If anything, it seems he has acclimated extremely well given his lack of game minutes this season. We pointed out his offensive quietness, but Morris can often be seen setting crucial screens for Paul George and Westbrook leading to points. Those screens won’t show up in the stat line, won’t achieve an assist, but are extremely vital to the team.

He is an asset at the free throw line as well, something OKC Thunder is desperate for and hopefully, Morris can utilize it in the future.
He brings a beneficial veteran outlook on the game, as well as a passion cultivated during his pre-NBA life.
In the article linked above, Erik Horne alludes that Morris has the traditional ‘toughness’ that OKC Thunder implements. We’ve seen glimpses of that characteristic over the 10-game stretch, but he has also come in during a brutal slump making it even more difficult to adjust.
Through the next 15 games, Morris will have a few chances to run through the motions with teams like the Grizzlies, Mavs, and the Lakers still remaining.
With another massive win over Utah Jazz Monday night, the OKC Thunder may just break this slump and create a better atmosphere to welcome in Morris given he stays healthy.
