Westbrook is a frequent target:
Other than the Dolan situation each of these chants and or interactions is all something players are accustomed to hearing and dealing with. Which brings me to the events of last night in Utah. This venue has already proven to be problematic as Russell Westbrook discussed last year when there was a fan altercation and at the time he touched on fans saying inappropriate things about his family including his children.
If you consider how Westbrook approaches games by not interacting with opponents in the typical friendly pregame shaking of hands or how protective he is of his teammates then consider how degrading or besmirching his family would go over!
Westbrook has dealt with a number of fan situations specifically in Denver and Utah. Last season a Nuggets fan was on the court and got in Westbrook’s path as he was leaving the court.
In that situation, the fan was promptly removed and banned from returning to games.
Last month a child tapped him, again in a game at Denver. Initially, because he was in the middle of play Russ whipped around, but recognizing it was a child he bent down and had a brief discussion with the father.
Afterward, Westbrook stated there need to be boundaries set.
