Post-All-Star break woes

Paul George‘s 2018-19 season is falling in line with his 2017-18 year – start off strong then fall into a shooting slump post-All-Star break. PG13 emerged as an MVP candidate prior to AS Weekend averaging 28.7 points, eight rebounds, 4.1 assists, and 2.3 steals while shooting 45.3 percent from the field, 40.6 percent from three and 83.7 percent from the line.

His most memorable performance came against the Brooklyn Nets where PG was absolutely unstoppable posting 47 points including a red hot 23-point fourth quarter and game-winner.

Following the break its been a totally different story.

PG13 is scoring the rock at an inefficient level averaging 26 points on 39.1 percent shooting and 32.8 percent from three. While his free throw shooting has remained consistent at 83.5 percent his attempts from 3-point range have risen to 10.1 from 9.6. While George’s output on the boards (8.8) and assists (4.5) have increased, his true value comes in his ability to score.

It’s no coincidence that OKC has struggled with one of its superstars struggling to find the range. PG needs to rediscover his MVP form if OKC is to make a serious run to end the regular season. Without him, it will be difficult for the Thunder to close out the season successfully before playoff season begins.
