This team should be on your list of guilty pleasures to watch. No, they won’t be feasting on teams but the prospect of Trae Young hitting a Steph-like midcourt shot is possible every game. More importantly, something tells me when all is said and done instead of discussing the trade which landed Young in Atlanta and sent Luka the wunderkid to Dallas we’ll be discussing how Kevin Huerter was the surprise stud of the 2018 draft.
Isolate on Huerter in games and pay attention to the absolute beauty and fundamental simplicity of his shot. There are snippets of J.J. Redick and Klay Thompson in his release and form. But, Huerter isn’t a one trick pony. Rather, he’s already using his range to afford himself opportunities to cut to the paint for an easy bucket or kick out to a waiting teammate. Klay didn’t master that ability until his third season.
