The OKC Thunder fell to a short-handed Dallas Mavericks team. Although they trailed for the majority of this contest, OKC put together a comeback effort that was thwarted in the closing moments.
The OKC Thunder came into today’s game tied with the San Antonio Spurs for the 7th seed and desperately needed a win. They went up against a reeling Mavs team that was without their star rookie upstart Luka Doncic. With a final score of 106-103, the OKC Thunder found themselves playing from behind due to a number of runs made by Dallas.
Although OKC was fighting back from a large deficit for the majority of the game, it seemed as if they would come back and win with a late-game rally. Led behind Paul George and Steven Adams, the OKC Thunder found themselves in a precarious position in the finals moments of the game.
The Dallas Mavs were executing on both ends of the floor. Their late-game comeback effort wasn’t enough to secure the win against a determined Mavs team who had been outplaying them all game. This loss is a concerning one for the Thunder which now has them sitting at the dreaded 8th seed.

Even with solid performances from Steven Adams, Paul George, and Russell Westbrook the OKC Thunder were unable to overcome their shooting woes. Behind a brilliant performance by Trey Burke, the Mavericks were able to shock an OKC team that has already clinched a spot in the playoffs.
