Of all the players who hung up their sneakers and jerseys this past season (or in several seasons for that matter) the one, I pine for this season is Manu Ginobili. He just always made me smile.
Brent Barry just said it in the pre-ceremony video tribute to Ginobili, and it's true: "Manu is the most beloved Spur to ever have put on that jersey."

For whatever reason, each of us will have players who resonate. Sometimes it’s because of the top end talent (like the superstars). Others click based on their humility, grittiness, leadership etc.
For example, I immediately responded to players such as Dwyane Wade, Russell Westbrook, and Pascal Siakam the first time I saw them play. The only common string among those players is their competitiveness and will to win.
For those who missed the retirement ceremony on TV or clips via social media, the fans tell the tale of the night and fittingly send Manu’s jersey aloft with chants and song.
