OKC Thunder: Do not wait until Russell Westbrooks legacy night to appreciate him

As a kid, I never thought Dirk would retire, I could not fathom an NBA without Dirk. Now, I am in college, and Oklahoma City has a professional basketball team, and I am lucky enough to write articles about them.
Dirk means a lot to a lot of people, and people in Dallas love Dirk. But he is not the first. Dallas has had professional sports success before Dirk and will have it after Dirk.

We have watched Russell Westbrook grow up. We watched him round into a true point guard, and electric player, and a leader.
Through it all, it has always been Russell Westbrook and Oklahoma City. From his charity efforts that helped families who saw a Tornado that ravaged the City of Moore. Russell Westbrook has been the one constant.
He and the OKC Thunder are always there. Every night throughout the season, you can turn on your television and for three hours receive a blissful escape filled with Russell Westbrook’s intensity, his dance moves, his plays that go from “No what’re you doing?!” to “YES!” in a split second, and his never say die attitude. The same attitude that spreads throughout the State of Oklahoma and its blue collar, working class citizens.
We have seen the highs and lows of Russell Westbrook, and he has seen the highs and lows in the OKC Thunder franchise. The rest of his story is yet to be written, but however the last chapter ends, whenever the book is closed, make sure you have taken the time to truly appreciate Russell Westbrook.
There will never be another pro sports athlete like him again, In Oklahoma, or anywhere. Professional Sports in Oklahoma City is Russell Westbrook.
