OKC Thunder playoff roundtable part 1: superstars, grades, moments and more
What was your favorite part of the season? Least favortie?
Alex Mcewen: Both double-overtime games. One loss, one win, and a 300 point game. What else could any fan ask for in the regular season? In the following days, ESPN analyst Jeff Van Gundy proclaimed the Thunder’s loss the best he had ever seen.
Moreover, the Spurs defeat nearly proved to be extremely damaging, and the Utah victory turned out to be huge due to the fact, OKC only clinched the sixth seed by a single game.
Sinjin Snopczynski: Favorite part of the season was three particular games. First was the most recent win against the Houston Rockets. I yelled so loud after Paul George’s game-winning three that I surely woke the neighbors. The second was the double-overtime mega war against Utah in the first game after the all-star break, what a game from both teams. So sweet to win against the Jazz after last seasons playoffs. And lastly was Russ and PG’s dueling triple-doubles against the Blazers in OKC. What a performance from both of those guys.
Least favorite part of the season is simply all of the losses that shouldn’t have been. For example Chicago, Dallas, Memphis, Indiana after being up by 20 the whole game, etc.
Tailor Finney: Off the top of my head, I think one of my favorite moments was when Paul George and Jerami Grant switched names in a post-game interview with Lesley McCaslin. It was so comical and really showed their chemistry as teammates and Lesley’s reaction was priceless. My second one would be watching Terrance Ferguson literally hurdle a whole human being. Iconic.
Steven Maichak: The journey is the destination. Fortunately, OKC’s journey continues into the postseason. My favorite segment has been watching the Thunder go 7-3 in their last 10 games of the regular season. It required some help from other teams, but they rebounded from a disappointing second half of the season to secure a favorable first round match-up. They’re heating back up at the perfect time.
Rylan Stiles: My favorite part of the season was Nick Collison’s jersey retirement. Is it really a surprise? I did pen an article that demands he be inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame.
Tamberlyn Richardson: Like Sinjin, my favorite moment came courtesy of the Rockets win when I also screamed so loud I think my cat had a heart attack. The moments that brought tears to my eyes was Westbrook’s 20-20-21 game and Nick Collison’s jersey retirement. As for least – I’ll take a different stance here and cite the deplorable actions of the Utah fan.
