The OKC Thunder will be without rookie shooting guard Hamidou Diallo for at least four weeks

The OKC Thunder announced on Wednesday that they will be without their rookie wing out of Kentucky, Hamidou Diallo for four weeks.

Diallo shuffled through two other teams before landing with his third, the OKC Thunder on Draft Night in 2018.

Diallo had a promising rookie year including the fact that he won the Slam Dunk contest by leaping over Shaq and honey dipping his elbow into the rim all in one dunk, oh yeah, and he wore a Superman costume.

Diallo spent most of the year with the varsity club, logging 51 games this year, including three starts. He posted 190 total points on a 45.5 percent from the floor, and just 18 percent from three filling the mold that Sam Presti loves so much of a lanky athletic wing who can not shoot.

More from Thunderous Intentions

Not only did he log minutes for the OKC Thunder, but he also saw time in the NBA G-League for the OKC Thunder playing for the OKC Blue.

Hamidou Diallo turned in 19 points per game in the G-League and shot 44 percent from the floor and 30 percent from deep. Diallo almost averaged a G-League double-double as he also grabbed seven rebounds per contest.

Diallo had not logged any playoff minutes for the Thunder, and instead, it has been all Raymond Felton at the backup guard spot. This surely has something to do with Billy Donovan‘s rotations.

Diallo is just 20 years old and has a bright future ahead of him, something the Thunder are very excited by as he was a second round steal.

The team announced Diallo had a successful Arthroscopic elbow procedure and that will sideline him from basketball activities for four weeks.

OKC is down 0-2 to the Portland Trail Blazers in this series, and losing Diallo will not sway the series one way or another, but it would have been nice to get the 20 year old some playoff experience.
