Raymond Felton better known as Uncle Ray to his teammates sang his praises of the OKC Thunder in his exit interview with plans to help develop roster assets and hopefully return next season.

The prototypical vet is how Raymond Felton would be dubbed on any team. He’s proven that all season as he adjusted to whatever role he was given. With 14 seasons in his pocket, Felton was a key part of helping the OKC Thunder even while riding the bench.

Throughout the season he worked to share his insights with the players on the bench or those on the floor. In essence the 34 year old functions as the teams player-coach.

"I love it here. I love this organization. I love this team. I love this city. I’m a guy at the point of my career like I want to be just settled and just enjoy playing the game that I love, enjoy being in the city that loves me back and loves their team and there is no better place than here.  – Felton on OKC Thunder team, city and returning."

He took whatever was tossed at him in stride and became super close to the OKC Thunder stars. Whether that was the reason he was afforded more minutes in the postseason is debatable. It may also be as simple as Billy Donovan didn’t trust anyone else. Or if I take the shade side of the argument it was more because Donovan didn’t bother to expose his younger assets consistent playing time.

Regardless, Felton rolled with the punches and was a professional. For that the team and fans are grateful. Even if it means I’ll toss out the donut jokes. And, I probably won’t stop next year if he returns, especially if that body remains the same.

This was his second complete season on the roster and as you’ll note in his exit interview he is hoping to return. As a cost-effective option, which the team has precious few of, Felton stands to see his hopes recognized.

Ever the vet, he’ll work with Ferguson this offseason:

Uncle Ray is taking the teams nickname for him to heart as he plans on working with Terrance Ferguson this offseason. The specific goals are for Felton to help TFerg develop his ability to be more versatile on offense via his drives while handling the ball. Presumably, he’ll also help the youngster develop his ball handling and facilitating fundamentals.
