OKC Thunder Season Review: Patrick Patterson displayed professionalism and went to the movies

Best Moment Off the Hardwood
Many NBA players, especially members of the OKC Thunder give back to their local community. The way Patterson gets involved in the Oklahoma City community, in addition to Thunder Cares events is hosting his Pat Presents Movie Screenings.
These are very fun and interactive events, at times he picks several attendees, such as the screenings of Cold Pursuit, The Beach Bum, Overload, Triple Frontier, and Hunter Killers. Whereas in other instances, Patterson selects a smaller group, such as his special Christmas Screening of Home Alone. Or his latest Pat Presents, featuring the film Shazam; where he picked a few Instagram entries while inviting several members from the Boys and Girls Club of Central Oklahoma.

I was fortunate enough to attend some of Pat’s events this season, and the last. In addition to viewing advanced screenings of some stellar, and not so great films, I also formed a new friendship with regular attendee Dorothy, and her son Carmine.
Closing Thoughts and What Lies Ahead
More from Thunderous Intentions
- Stealing one player from every Southwest Division team for the OKC Thunder
- Should the OKC Thunder chase after a disgruntled hometown hero?
- 3 OKC Thunder players who can step up in Aleksej Pokusevski’s absence
- Aleksej Pokusevski sidelined approximately 6 weeks with ankle injury
- Damian Lillard does not fit with the OKC Thunder
Patterson possesses a player option worth 5.9 million dollars, due to his limited playing time his value would likely be lower than his option on the open market. Therefore, expect Pat to opt-in to the final year of his three-year deal.
Moving forward, much like the rest of the Thunder Patterson must improve upon his consistency.
Heading into the new campaign if Patterson can consistently hit shots off the bench, not only will he force his way into the rotation, but he can earn a new deal with the Thunder or another squad if he continues playing basketball.
During his exit interview, Pat discussed participating in film internships this summer, as he has done in the past, to further prepare for life after basketball.
Based on Sam Presti’s own comments regarding Pat, it appears the Thunder are still committed to making it work with the big man out of Kentucky.
Here’s hoping we see Patterson back in OKC when training camp opens in September, but if the Thunder go in another direction it has been a pleasure getting to know and watch Patrick Patterson.
