After another first round exit, the OKC Thunder need to consider changes to improve. Locked on Mavericks podcast suggests Tim Hardaway Jr. for Dennis Schroder and TI dives into the proposed trade.

The OKC Thunder have to change their roster in some way, and the only moveable assets for the Thunder are really Steven Adams or Dennis Schroder.

When listening to the Locked on Mavericks podcast with Nick Angstadt and Isaac Harris, the duo tossed out the idea of a possible trade scenario, and now, I am going to run with it.

It is important to note that these hosts did not report this, just speculated it, and went down the rabbit hole of a possible trade. This article is simply expanding on their thought from an OKC Thunder perspective. Here is a link to their episode that the idea was tossed out in.

The first step to any wacky trade idea is to visit the ESPN Trade Machine.

You may or may not be happy to find out that this trade passes the ESPN Trade Machine test. However, the trade would leave the OKC Thunder looking for a new back up point guard…again.

However, it would also give the team a career 34 percent 3-point shooter on a team that desperately needs some shooting.

Tim Hardaway Jr. is a career 13 point per game scorer and could carry the offensive load for the second unit.

Hardaway Jr. had surgery on his left tibia on April 18th but is expected to be back in time for training camp.

Losing the best backup point guard the OKC Thunder have had in their franchise history would be a bit scary. For so long we just wanted a serviceable ball handler that would not blow the entire game while Russell Westbrook was off the floor. Now, the team has a starting caliber backup point guard and it is time to ship him out of town?

A move of this nature would also impact the draft day plans, as the team would need a backup point guard not named Raymond Felton, and will not have the cap space to get an impact player in free agency.

This could lead to buying into the second round of the NBA Draft and selecting a guy like Jordan Bone to fill that need.

This trade would be extremely interesting and would come down to if you would prefer a floor general ball handler as the leader of your second unit or a bucket getter.

Tim Hardaway Jr. could be a very nice piece in Loud City as the OKC Thunder try to figure out what combinations work in this puzzling first round proposition.
