As the OKC Thunder offseason continues it felt like an appropriate time to reflect on Russell Westbrook the man and his family.
Russell Westbrook is constantly in the news for his exploits on and off the court. Recently during Mothers Day I spent some time on his Instagram account and got caught up in the moment looking at the pictures of the family.
Twin girls Skye and Jordyn were born on November 18, 2018. The Westbrook’s first child (son Noah) was born on May 16th. It ‘s hard to believe he’s already two years old.
Whenever Russell speaks to his motivation he cites his family. Prior to the children being born Westbrook already displayed a strong family bond with his parents (mother Shannon Horton and father Russell Sr.)`, wife Nina and brother Raynard.
Athletics run in the family too, as Raynard played college football at Central Oklahoma. Raynard went on to earn his masters and has a degree in broadcast journalism.
Russell and Raynard are extremely close; in a recent interview, Russell said his brother texts him at the half every single game. Now that’s commitment! In addition, Raynard works as a volunteer on Russell’s Why Not? charitable foundation. As per Jessica Schambach’s article of KOKO News 5 Raynard also spends time in the Oklahoma community giving motivational speeches.
"Motivational speaking is his newfound passion. He speaks to Oklahoma’s youth at churches, schools and clubs.“God gave me a calling and I’ve had this calling for a while,” Ray Westbrook said.Growing up in Los Angeles was different than life in Oklahoma City now. Many of his friends, Ray says, ended up in prison or dead."

Despite being busy with three children two and under, Wife Nina also runs her store, Little Ark.
When I first heard the name of the store I thought how clever because I immediately thought of Noah’s Ark.
The store is a boutique which retails unique and clever gifts. Additionally, there are classes and events for parents and their children to participate in.
The store opened on July 16th, 2018 which means it is nearing the first anniversary.

I don’t know why, but this image spoke to me as Russ follows Noah. We don’t even see their faces but it’s such a touching image.
