Tyler Herro is the apple of most every OKC Thunder fans eyes. The guard from the University of Kentucky is the sharpshooting prospect the fanbase has craved for such a long time. Despite the desires of the fanbase, Sam Presti has always elected to go with the long, lengthy, athletic, non-shooters.

The 19 year old guard projects to have a bit of Devin Booker in him, and given his potential and upside along with his college production, it is not hard to see how he is drawing those comparisons ahead of the NBA Draft.

Herro will be a liability on the defensive end, but the OKC Thunder should be able to easily mask that given their system and personnel that will be on the floor alongside Herro.

From deep, the 6’6 guard shot 35.5 percent to go along with his 93.5 percent free throw stroke.

Herro averaged 14 points per game, four rebounds, and 2.5 assists.

While he is not a good defender, he averages over a steal per contest, he gets bailed out in that way in the same vein as OKC Thunder superstar Russell Westbrook who previously cracked the All-Defense team just by compiling steals.

A shooter who lacks crazy athletism, and is not an elite defender is not in Sam Presti’s mold. But after three straight first-round exits, maybe it is time to adapt to basketball the way it’s being played in 2019.
