Matisse Thybulle. 20. player. Washington. G. 18. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis

Matisse Thybulle is an interesting prospect, who has had rumors swirling around him since he pulled his name out of the NBA Draft combine in Chicago earlier this month.

Rumors of the OKC Thunder promising to draft him at pick 21, turned into the Boston Celtics promising to select the guard from Washington University.

Matisse Thybulle is a defensive phenom, whose only concern on that end comes from the fact the Huskies ran a ton of zone. Some fear his defensive prowess could have been a result of his system but he has the intangibles that show he will be a great defender at the next level.

Thybulle is everything OKC Thunder GM Sam Presti loves. An inconsistent at best shooter, who is long and wildly athletic and shows he can be an elite defender that adds little on offense. So it would make sense if Thybulle’s promise is from the OKC Thunder as the first report indicated.

But for Boston, they can use Thybulle, who on defense is absolutely pro ready.

For Thybulle I peg him as an expensive mans Andre Roberson (is that a saying? expensive man? I mean we say poor man all the time…) while Thybulle will (likely) never light up the offensive end of the floor, he will not be a black hole and played off the floor due to his inability on that end. On the flip side, he has the chance to be just as good if not better than Roberson on the other end.
