player. Pick Analysis. Kentucky. Keldon Johnson. 19. 29. Scouting Report. G

Keldon Johnson is an exciting guard from the University of Kentucky who is a great scorer despite scoring just 13 points per game. Johnson knows what he wants to do with the basketball, and how to do it.

Each year of his basketball career, he has improved the form on his shot, and his 3-point shooting overall. Last season, Johnson got his 3-point efficiency up to 38 percent.

Keldon Johnson plays with effort and energy that would make even stoic Gregg Popovich smile. That energy makes him an above average defender, but he can not get by on just effort in the NBA. The Spurs culture and system would be key for his improvement on that end.

Johnson despite being a 6’6 guard hauled in almost six rebounds per game a year ago. Johnson will not be tasked with ball handling, or playmaking, and lucky for him in this fit of San Antonio, he will not be asked to.

The Spurs and Gregg Popovich have earned the complete and total benefit of the doubt with any selection they make, but Keldon Johnson would be a great one by anyone’s standards.
