F. 16. 38. Scouting Report. Kentucky. PJ Washington. player. Pick Analysis

PJ Washington is one of many, many Kentucky Wildcat prospects that will go in this years NBA Draft, and his fit with the Orlando Magic, who played their way into the playoffs a year ago, is almost perfect.

PJ Washington is 6’8 with a 7’2 wingspan, and an 8’10 standing reach. The 20 year old forward is a great scorer and offensive player. He hits threes at a 42 percent clip, to couple with his 15 points per game, seven rebounds, and over one assist.

Washington is a great passer but can get caught rushing shots and settling which might not come to light in the NBA if his usage rate drops on the offensive end.

PJ Washington is a very good offensive rebounder, but he can not clean up the defensive glass. He was inconsistent when it comes to giving effort at the college level, but that can happen as a 20 year old plays another year for free knowing he is going to make the jump to the NBA in a matter of months. If that inconsistent effort level keeps up throughout his rookie year, then we have a problem.

Solid would be the word I would use to depict PJ Washington. In a shallow draft, at pick 16, solid is likely the best you can do if you are Orlando who is trying to mix winning with rebuilding and did so post All-Star break to perfection last year.
