Scouting Report. Duke. RJ Barrett. 3. player. 27. Pick Analysis. G/F

RJ Barrett is pretty much the consensus third best player in the NBA Draft, and the only thing that would allow him to fall past the three line is well…The New York Knicks doing the most Knicks thing ever.

RJ Barrett has been compared to Andrew Wiggins, and that may be true, he could be a guy who takes bad shots and is lazy on defense, and sees a lot of his potential go to waste the way Wiggins has thus far in his career.

However, let’s assume the New York Knicks do not Knicks this thing up. Let’s assume they bring in Kevin Durant, and Kyrie Irving, or just Kevin Durant and some other free agent. Barrett will be put in a great situation to not be forced to take the bulk of the shots. That would give him more time to develop and try to fend off those bad habits he has dealt with in college.

If Barrett is trotting out there with Dennis Smith Jr., Kevin Knox and the like, those bad habits might be not only put on full display but may never get corrected.

One thing is for sure, RJ Barrett has the mindset and the personality to take on a market like New York.
