2019 NBA Mock Draft 2.0: The post Combine edition, OKC Thunder still focused on shooting
By Rylan Stiles
Grant Williams is a college veteran that improved his game each season at Tennessee and was the best player in the South Eastern Conference two straight years.
The question is, how much more can Williams grow? That is why he falls to pick 24 in this mock draft.
This past season the 20 year old averaged 18.8 points per game for the Volunteers. Along with that, he added seven rebounds and three assists per game. He shot just 32 percent from deep at Tennessee, which is concerning given the fact that is an easier shot at the college level, against lesser defenders. Williams lack of a 3-ball is the biggest negative to his game.
To go along with his 3-point woes, Williams shies away from attempting 3-point shots even if he is wide open. That is why he could fall even further down the draft board because the 76ers would have to believe they can snap him out of that. You can not run out Grant Williams and Ben Simmons who both refuse to take three’s in 2019. That spacing does not work in the current day NBA.
One thing the Philly sports fans will love about Williams is his effort.
Williams will be a solid role player in the NBA for years to come, but it is hard to see him developing into much more than that.
