OKC Thunder season review: Why the addition of Markieff Morris did not work

Going in another direction
Keef’s tenure in Oklahoma City was underwhelming and uneventful. Yes, he was a buyout free agent, but plenty of other late-season additions made an impact on their new squads. Enes Kanter was vital to the Blazers, Kenneth Faried gave Houston a bruiser off the bench, and prior to fracturing his foot, Pau Gasol was critical to the young Milwaukee Bucks.

Hence, buyout candidates can absolutely be valuable additions. So long as they are utilized properly. Following an alarming trend, Morris was incorrectly used in Oklahoma City.
At the time, it was considered a win, Keef chose to sign with the OKC Thunder rather than Houston or Los Angeles, but could his poor review hurt OKC in the long run, while pursuing free agents? An answer will be revealed in due time.
It would be stunning if Morris chose to re-sign with the OKC Thunder. This is the bottom line; he was displeased with his role, and the franchise was unimpressed with his production. Some signings work out; others do not. Morris falls into the former category.
Therefore, the best course of action for everyone involved is to go in separate directions.
