The 2019 NBA Finals hit a sour note in Game 3, but there have also been moments if comedy present including some with ties to the OKC Thunder.

With the NBA Finals nearing a close it’s unfortunate Game 3 ended up spiraling into the only focus being on the minority owner (or investor) who had an altercation with Kyle Lowry.  My strong take on that situation and how it should’ve been handled the same way the Westbrook – fan altercation in the OKC Thunder – Utah Jazz situation was can be found here.

Instead, I’m electing to focus on something more positive and humorous in the news tied to the 2019 NBA Finals. These BarDown vintage makeovers of the Raptors and Warriors are brilliant. Former OKC Thunder players Kevin Durant and Serge Ibaka are among the 10 players featured in their Instagram post.

As you sift through these it’s impossible not to picture how BarDown would’ve treated Russell Westbrook and Steven Adams specifically. Then again, how different would Adams look?

This second Instagram was shared on TSN’s Instagram offering additional cards and some of the same players with different takes. For example, Kyle Lowry has a receding hairline in this version whereas he had a mullet in the first grouping.

Jimmy Kimmel serves up comedy with NBA players:

In what has become a tradition Jimmy Kimmel has a presence during the NBA Finals beginning with the media interviews prior to the series starting.

Then throughout the series prior to ESPN’s NBA Countdown with Michelle Beadle, Jalen Rose, Chauncey Billups, and Paul Pierce, there is a half hour Kimmel show which predominantly focuses on the NBA Finals and the Association in general.

It all starts with media day and Guillermo as per usual is priceless.

One of the segments they cut from the show occurred between Warriors Alfonzo McKinnie and Guillermo where he implies Kevin Durant will bolt for New York. It’s all in the name of comedy, yet the fact they kept it off the actual show might signify there might be a little smoke to that fire.

McKinnie’s response after Guillermo leaves was hilarious since he wasn’t aware of his association with the Jimmy Kimmel show.

Every year one of the best segments is NBA players reading mean tweets. OKC Thunder star Paul George made the cut this year although I think it’s pretty clear Kevin Durant got the harshest message.

Warning there are NSFW words although most have been muted and taken out of the closed captioning still it’s worth noting to take caution as not all NSFW words are muted nor is it difficult to figure out what is meant to be said.

And, in what has also become a yearly NBA Finals segment (and a personal favorite) Jimmy sits with former NBA great Karl Malone.

Game 4 tips off this evening at Oracle as the Warriors attempt to tie the series once again without Kevin Durant playing but Klay Thompson expected to return. Meanwhile, the Raptors will seek to take a commanding 3-1 lead to take back to Toronto where they could then surprise many early prognosticators by winning the series.

The night starts with Jimmy Kimmel at 8:00 p.m. EST. If you’re more focused on the OKC Thunder check in daily for the draft prospect series and other articles about your favorite club and players.
