Mock Draft 3.0 – Predicting how the dominoes fall, with view to fit, shifts, and OKC Thunder best bet
This pick was conveyed to the Hawks as part of the trade that sent Allen Crabbe to the Atlanta in exchange for Taurean Prince and jostling to make cap room.
Despite the pick moving to the Hawks, there is no guarantee this selection stays there (in fact it’s more likely he doesn’t). With numerous picks, and continuing whispers Travis Schlenk’s desire is to add proven assets Brandon Clarke would all but be be ensured of donning more than one hat tonight.
Regardless, Clarke is a player who likely shouldn’t have fallen this low on my board in the first place, so I’m fitting him in here with the belief several teams will earmark him as an asset who projects to have a long professional career.
Clarke doesn’t mind doing the dirty work and as one of the elder statesmen in this draft, he could offer depth and production straight away.
Ironically, the Nets declining the qualifying offer for Rondae Hollis-Jefferson and Ed Davis is looking to get paid or to move on to a team who values his rebounding and defensive prowess. That would’ve made Clarke a nice fit for the Nets but Sean Marks is looking at taking big swings and scuttlebutt suggests several free agents (Kawhi Leonard, Kyrie Irving, and Al Horford) are among many of the big name free agents they’ll target.
