Mock Draft 3.0 – Predicting how the dominoes fall, with view to fit, shifts, and OKC Thunder best bet
This pick is based more on need and who is already off the board than anything else. Indiana is in a real kerfuffle entering the offseason knowing Thaddeus Young, Bojan Bogdanovic, Darren Collison
Cory Joseph, Kyle O’Quinn, Wesley Matthews, Edmond Sumner (Team Option), and Davon Reed (Restricted) are all free agents.
Couple that with the uncertainty of a return date for Victor Oladipo and the loss of Tyreke Evans from the league and the Pacers existing roster is almost barren other than youngsters like Myles Turner, Domantas Sabonis, T.J. Leaf and Aaron Holiday. Sure, they’ll attempt to retain some of these guys but Indy is a franchise given to overpaying.
That’s why having a youngster like Romeo Langford could fill gaps in the absence of Dipo and potential loss of both of several guards makes sense. The development team in Indy is solid and with Langford’s thumb issues behind, he stands to show rapid growth.
As noted in my first mock Langford compared his game to Bradley Beal. Suffice to say he’s not lacking in confidence and I still think too many are sleeping on his potential and work ethic.
