Pretty much a no brainer and the one guaranteed consensus pick with all due respect to the trio at the top. Zion Williamson is a talent who every team was covetous of landing. David Griffin’s magic tie, angel pins, and other assorted good luck charms won lottery night though and with it, the Pelicans will obtain their second generational superstar in less than a decade (Davis was drafted in 2012).

Some franchises never have the opportunity to land one franchise altering superstar so the Basketball Gods shone brightly on the Pelicans as Anthony Davis heads to the Lakers.

Williamson becomes the cornerstone of the organization and David Griffin will look to surround him with the pieces to succeed much as he did for LeBron James in Cleveland. To that end, Zion is often cited as the “next one” much like LeBron was upon his entry into the league.  No doubt, he’ll be filling up Smoothie King Center and visitor arenas for years to come.
