Zion Williamson showed up to the NBA Draft rocking the same style of suit as LeBron James sported on his NBA Draft night in 2003, only Zion’s actually fit (seriously, what were we as a society thinking in the mid-2000’s?) and that was just the start of Williamson’s great night.

Zion Williamson has already excited an entire city and fanbase more so than even the great Anthony Davis did, but he won over even more than he already did previously. With his selflessness when discussing his Duke teammates, his infectious smile, and his emotional interview after being selected first overall explaining just how much his mom means to him, and has done for him to get him here.

Beyond that, on the floor, Zion is a big winner. With David Griffin making trades left and right, you could argue that Williamson is entering a better situation in New Orleans than Anthony Davis ever saw in his tenure in the bayou.

Also, Zion Williamson wins by not having fans turn on him. Often times star prospects by the time they get to the draft have had so much hype and attention, that fans grow tired of them. See Trae Young in last year’s draft. As Oklahoma Natives know, by Christmas break a year ago, Young was the hottest thing since sliced bread. By the time March Madness and the draft rolled around, the hot take artists penciled in Trae Young as overrated.

Luckily for Zion, the hottest of take artists can come up with is that he is Blake Griffin 2.0…which is not exactly a bad thing.
