2019 Southeast NBA Free Agency Primer – The under performing division
Atlanta Hawks:
Situation Entering Offseason:
Travis Shlenk has delivered two solid seasons of stealth draft management and will l entre this season with one of the most exciting, youthful rosters in the Association.
Atlanta needs some veteran depth though but shouldn’t overspend to get it. Rather, it would behoove the team to build upon their constancy and bring the defensive end of the floor up to speed with their offense.
Salary:
Cap Space: $ (9,539,989.00)
Floor Space: $ (8,127,616.00)
Max Space: $ 23,919,619.00
Projected Space: $ 12,971,483.00

Key free agents to re-sign
It’s rumored the Hawks want to bring back Dedmon and they should, given he proved to be an invaluable teacher and steadying force for the young crew. Atlanta has a bevy of young bigs (Collins, Spellman, Fernando) but they still need to improve their defense particularly in the paint.
With a future looking bright the best bet for Lloyd Pierce’s Hawks would be to place emphasis on building and improving on the defensive side of the court. All of Schlenk’s offseason additions should be vested in adding the components that would help the club achieve that goal.
