The OKC Thunder announced their 2019 NBA Summer League roster on Monday afternoon, and it features a few athletic freaks.

The NBA Summer League gets underway in Vegas on Friday with Zion Williamson’s Pelicans taking on RJ Barrett’s Knicks. If you are already starved for basketball though, a pair of Summer Leagues get going on July 1st in Sacramento and Utah respectively. The OKC Thunder will not start play until July 6th when they take on the Utah Jazz.

The OKC Thunder are just days away from taking the hardwood again. No, not the varsity squad, but the NBA Summer League squad.

Shortly after the team released that tweet, the OKC Thunder summer league roster was finally announced. The Thunder continued their trend of being one of the last teams to announce their roster in the entire NBA.

The summer squad will be headlined by a pair of fan favorites in Deonte Burton and Hamidou Diallo. If you are like me, a basketball junkie that for some reason watches every summer league game, you know the NBA Summer League is conducive to fast breaks and uncontested dunks at the rim. Burton and Diallo will not disappoint in that area.

Besides the high flying tandem of Burton and Diallo, the biggest story of the roster to some OKC Thunder fans is the fact first-round pick Darius Bazley is absent from the teams’ initial roster.

The OKC Thunder selected Bazley 23rd when they moved down from pick 21 in the 2019 NBA Draft. The paperwork will not go through until July 6th, which is the same day the Thunder start their Summer League season.

To that end, because Darius Bazley’s trade still has not gone through, he is technically not a part of the Thunder Organization yet. However, he will be in Vegas on July 6th when summer league starts and OKC will add him to the roster as soon as the paperwork is processed.

Rest easy Thunder nation, Darius Bazley will play for the OKC Thunder at some point this Summer.
