Still reeling from the late night trade news the OKC Thunder begins a post Paul George era in Vegas with their summer squad. Here’s what you need to know about the match.

The first day of the Vegas NBA Summer League was full of action including another California earthquake of 6.9 magnitude which stopped action on the court and for the moment has postponed games in the Thomas and Mack Pavilion. The OKC Thunder suffered their own aftershocks with news Paul George requested a trade to the Clippers and it was granted.

Suffice to say the situation has everyone in a state of shock and moving forward the Thunder entered the day thinking they could potentially vie for the top of the West’s ladder to immediately being a potential lottery team.

Sam Presti for his part got a haul back for Paul George particularly the sheer number of draft picks he’ll have to rebuild the Thunder for years to come.

For now, there is basketball to play and the attention shifts to the youngsters in Vegas making the Summer League arguably more important than it was prior to this trade.

For the OKC Thunder pay attention to how the returning players perform and how much they’ve grown in the offseason. Deonte Burton and Hamidou Diallo will be expected to take a larger role this season particularly with the exit of Paul George.

Depending on how quickly the league processes all the paperwork Darius Bazley could be in the mix, but it’s more likely he won’t play until a future game.

As for the Jazz they’ve done most of their offseason work through the addition of trades but Miye Oni is an intriguing rookie to key in on. The Jazz is hoping Oni will be a 3 and D player and since every team covets those types his value is high. Game Specifics
