In the 2018 postseason, OKC Thunder fans were briefly introduced to “Playoff P.”

When asked about the upcoming game one matchup against the Utah Jazz, and if he was up for the challenge of guarding Utah’s young star, Donovan Mitchell, who had previously been defended by the now injured lockdown defender Andre Roberson, George remarked “Oh, y’all haven’t met Playoff P yet.”

In the first playoff game as the member of the Oklahoma City Thunder, the fans and media got their first look at Playoff P. This nickname also sparked the last Russell Westbrook press conference in which he was jovial with the media.

He had the performance to warrant it.

Paul George posted 36 points including eight 3-pointers in the game. He led the Thunder to a game one route of the Utah Jazz and set the tone of the series off on the right foot in Oklahoma City.

However, that was the only time, outside of the second half in Game five of this series, that we saw Playoff P in action.

Paul George went cold this series while being locked down by Joe Ingles, and was too banged up to make that great of an impact in the following postseason against Portland despite his best efforts he just was not right.

This nickname caught him some heat after he ended the series with the biggest playoff clunker of the year, but for a few days, Playoff P was all the rage in Oklahoma City.
