The new 3 and D wing?

This year is crucial for Terrance Ferguson who started all 74 games he played for the OKC Thunder last season. Entering the 2019-20 campaign TFerg’s role remains that of being a 3 and D player yet the addition of Chris Paul and return of Andre Roberson specifically put a twist in the equation of whether he remains a starter.

Logically, both Paul and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander will start but the small forward starter is up in the air. That makes this offseason extremely important for Ferguson. Can he add strength and muscle? Additional areas Ferguson needs to focus on this summer are playmaking, offensive versatility, and range with emphasis on his perimeter shooting.

Ultimately, the wing man’s ability to showcase significant growth in his development could well determine his role this coming season. Moreover, if other youngsters like Hamidou Diallo or Abdel Nader take greater leaps it could affect his standing in the rotation.

Likewise, the brain trust may enter into full-on tank mode and elect to give rookie Darius Bazley more minutes in order for the Thunder to fast track the youngster’s fit within the team.

Suffice to say, entering training camp several roles will be up for grabs.
