Sophomore opportunity:

As outlined for TFerg the same situation applies to sophomore Hamidou Diallo who needs to dive into this offseason with emphasis on growing specific segments of his game.

Those include his playmaking and shooting range. Diallo’s greatest focus should be on his shot. If he’s able to add range and do so with consistency, he’ll force the brain trust into using him more frequently.

Throughout Summer League the youngster didn’t shy away from getting up attempts although the jury remains out on his efficiency. In fact, Diallo seemed to take a step back shooting only 15.1 percent from the perimeter and more concerningly only 45.8 percent from the charity stripe.

It’s often said how a player shoots from the line provides a good reflection of their ability to extend that range out and beyond the arc. But, if Diallo can’t hit at a league average from the free throw line it sure doesn’t give confidence he can extend his range.

If there was ever an argument for why the OKC Thunder need to hire a shooting coach it lies with Hamidou Diallo!
