Zion and SGA’s cousin:

The games versus the Pelicans could provide an interesting measuring stick for the Thunder as they face the revamped New Orleans squad. Clearly, top draft pick Zion Williamson will garner interest but this team boasts a number of rookies who impressed in Vegas.

One of particular interest is Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s cousin Nickeil Alexander-Walker who might surprise many as an underrated pick from this year’s class. Additionally, Jaxson Hayes was impressive in Summer League.

Perhaps the person who should be paying the most attention to these games is Thunder General Manager Sam Presti as David Griffin just delivered a solid offseason. Sure he had lucky charms in place to land the top draft, but he also made savvy moves flipping the Lakers fourth pick to land multiple rookies including Hayes and NWA.

The teams will play each other four times this season in total.

  • November 2, at 4:00 p.m. CT at Chesapeake
  • November 29, at 7:00 p.m. CT at Chesapeake
  • December 1 at 4:00 p.m CT at Smoothie King Center
  • February 13 at 7:00 p.m. CT at Smoothie King Center

Last season the teams played on four occasions:

  • November 5, at home in a win 122-116
  • December 12 on the road in a loss: 114-118
  • January 24 at home in a win: 122-116
  • February 14 on the road in a loss: 122-131
