Deonte Burton:

One-year, $1.4 million (2nd-year non-guaranteed)

Burton, like Diallo, was the product of the Thunder being smart with their resources.

Signed to the 2018 Summer League squad, Deonte Burton showed off his tremendous athleticism and ball-handling ability in Vegas. His summer showcase landed him a two-way contract with the Thunder and last season he was up and down between the Thunder and the Blue.

Deonte Burton was played very sparingly in the NBA last season, and he wasn’t exactly spectacular. Burton is still very much a work in progress. Although not particularly young (25), what differs him from a player like Abdel Nader in my eyes is that Burton has one quality NBA skill which is his athleticism. The Thunder will try to work with Burton’s special skill just like they will with Diallo.

Even if Burton never pans out as an NBA player, they at least took a shot on an intriguing player with upside.
